Role summary:

We are looking for a GIS Specialist with hands-on experience in geospatial analysis, satellite imagery processing, and integration of AI/ML techniques using Python. You should have proficiency in AI/ML plugins for GIS platforms (e.g. QGIS, Google Earth Engine) and programming in Python. You'll work closely with our AI/ML engineer and project manager to support the identification, validation, and interpretation of solar PV installations across selected regions of Pakistan. This is a great opportunity to be part of an innovative, impact-driven project at the intersection of technology, energy, and climate.

Creating impact:

● Develop and implement geospatial techniques to automate the analysis of satellite imagery for solar PV site identification.

● Prepare, clean, and manage GIS datasets from various sources (including administrative boundaries, grid data, etc.).

● Assist the AI/ML team in training and validating the model using spatial data.

● Support the project team in organizing and analysing regional solar trends.

● Draft technical geospatial reports supported by spatial analytics and ML models.

● Ensure on-time delivery of Herald's deliverables through proactive cross-team coordination.

● Represent Herald at geospatial and energy sector events.

Qualifications:

● Master's or bachelor's degree Geoinformatics, Engineering, Computer Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography or a related technical field.

● Hands-on experience in GIS or remote sensing and proficiency in QGIS or ArcGIS.

● Ability to conduct spatial analysis for built-up areas to assess solar PV deployment.

● Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.

● Excellent English language, presentation and communication skills and ability to work in a small team in a highly collaborative culture.

● Passion for using data and technology to accelerate renewable energy adoption.

● A good sense of humour
