Job Overview

The procurement engineer will play a key role in ensuring technical compatibility, cost efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and recommending materials, components, and vendors for project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the design team in creating assembly drawings to optimize equipment take offs using Esticom and reduce processing time.
  • Collaborate with procurement to maintain regular updates to Procore cost catalog and assemblies.
  • Optimize and standardize electrical component selection to balance cost, performance, and availability.
  • Review Esticom take offs and generate a complete Bill of Materials (BOM) and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for projects.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers based on technical compliance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review vendor technical documentation, material specifications, and certifications.
  • Explore and implement AI-powered tools for process improvement, automation, and standardization.
  • Ensure selected components and materials align with engineering design and project needs.
  • Provide technical justifications for supplier selection to the engineering and procurement teams.
  • Collaborate with the value engineering team to identify cost-saving opportunities in sourcing.
  • Recommend alternative materials or vendors that meet or exceed project specifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or supply chain management from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design, procurement, supply chain, or vendor evaluation within the electrical industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software, as well as experience with ERP systems (SAP, Procore, Oracle, etc.).
  • Knowledge of AI-driven procurement technologies or experience working with data-driven decision-making tools.
  • Demonstrated electrical, structural, and mechanical design skills, with the ability to accurately read highly detailed construction drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong ability to apply innovative and creative skills to problem solving.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with on-site technology troubleshooting and automation of manual processes.
