The role of a skilled Speech Therapist is crucial in assessing patients, developing individual treatment plans, and delivering speech therapy services to improve auditory comprehension, visual reading perception, and oral motor skills.
About the PositionWe are seeking a dedicated Speech Therapist who will work collaboratively with medical personnel to obtain relevant information about patient progress and needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing patient assessment and progress notes, educating patients and families about diagnosed conditions and treatment plans, and participating in internal and external training programs and research activities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Patient Assessment and Treatment: Assess patients and develop individualized speech therapy treatment plans to improve auditory comprehension, visual reading perception, oral motor strength, coordination and symmetry, swallowing components of oral phase, pharyngeal phase indicators, verbal expression, word finding skills, speech intelligibility and articulation, voice characteristics, written expression, gestured communication skills, and augmentative and alternative modes of communication.
- Documentation and Communication: Write patient assessment and progress notes according to designed formats, liaise with medical personnel in daily ward rounds, and interact professionally with patients, families, peers, and medical personnel.
- Educational and Research Activities: Educate and advise patients and their families regarding diagnosed conditions, treatment plans, expected prognoses, and short and long-term goals; participate in internal and/or external training programs and research activities.
- Qualifications: Master's degree in Speech Audiology & Pathology from a recognized university.
- Experience: One-year post-education experience as a speech therapist or 1-year traineeship, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Skill Set: Sound knowledge of speech therapy theory, techniques, and equipment.
