Job Title: Litigation Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced legal professional to join our team.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with various departments to collect necessary documents and follow up on lawsuits or finalization of matters requiring input from the Legal department.

  • Prepare initial drafts regarding the legal view on referred issues/cases/queries primarily related to litigation matters based on existing laws, rules, regulations, and research highlighting salient points of interest that may impact the company.
  • Provide case details along with supporting documents to external counsel and share the company's legal perspective to proceed with litigation.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of Vakalatnama for appointment of legal counsel.
  • Assist in coordination with legal counsel to initiate and follow up of lawsuits filed by the company or in suits where the company is a respondent.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with external counsel in developing and reviewing appropriate drafts, briefs, replies, comments, opinions, and supporting papers ensuring the company's viewpoint is correctly presented and its interests safeguarded.
  • Seek feedback and clarification from relevant departments as required to determine the company's stance.
  • Assist in vetting referred legal documents and drafts providing para-wise input considering adequate risk analysis and impact on the company.
  • Represent the company's point of view before any arbitrator or in discussions relating to the settlement of disputes out of court.
  • In important matters or as deemed appropriate, represent the company during court hearings.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide updates on ongoing cases to members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) during their periodic meetings.
  • Assist in preparing the status of lawsuits pertaining to the company and ensure effective steps are being taken to safeguard the company's interests at all levels.
  • Generate periodic reports for management on potential legal and litigation risks.
  • Study reports on decisions taken by superior courts on various legal issues evaluate probable effects on the company's operations or lawsuits pending in courts and advise departmental management on available options.
  • Comply with the risk management framework and participate actively in risk management activities across the organization ensuring key risks are identified, reported, recorded, and managed in a timely manner.
  • Receive appropriate training in risk management.
  • Perform any other work assigned by immediate supervisor.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also essential, as well as a strong understanding of legal principles and procedures.
