Job Title: Research Portfolio Manager

The Research Office plays a crucial role in supporting externally and internally sponsored projects by providing pre- and post-award assistance to Principal Investigators and ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsor regulations.

This position will work closely with the Board of Advanced Studies and the Research Office to develop, maintain, and communicate pre- and post-award administrative procedures for externally sponsored projects. The successful candidate will also support faculty with grant proposal submissions, including budget development, award documentation, and administrative portions of proposals.

  • Coordinate internal and external reporting needs, including maintenance of research databases.
  • Develop and maintain award process web pages.
  • Work with the Director of Research Strategy to set goals and responsibilities within the research office.
  • Foster collaborations among research faculty across departments and colleges, and support the mentorship of junior faculty.
  • Develop programs and activities to increase funding for research from all public and private sources.
  • Identify a programmatic strategy for research that promotes multidisciplinary collaboration within the university.
  • Develop a structure for mentorship of junior faculty.
  • Provide information about the grant process to faculty, including study section procedures and interpreting reviews.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Mastery of research administration, including pre- and post-award processes, budgeting, compliance, and grant management.
  • Familiarity with institutional and sponsor policies, research funding mechanisms, and faculty mentorship.
  • Experience in fostering multidisciplinary collaborations, developing research infrastructure, and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in research reporting systems and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to liaise effectively with faculty, funding agencies, and stakeholders.
