Power BI Backend Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure that supports Power BI solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data integration, optimization, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust backend solutions to support Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, business intelligence teams, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Optimize and tune existing Power BI data models and datasets for performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues related to data connectivity, refresh failures, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Implement security measures to ensure data privacy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay updated on Power BI updates and industry best practices to continuously improve backend processes.
  • Work closely with database administrators and IT teams to ensure seamless integration with data sources.
  • Document backend processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on Power BI backend functionalities, as needed.
  • Participate in daily project and agile meetings, providing technical support for faster issue resolution.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with the business regarding the status of items and blockers.
  • Maintain end-to-end knowledge of the data landscape within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of proven experience as a backend engineer with a focus on Power BI solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI architecture, data modeling, DAX, and AML.
  • Proficient in designing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and data warehouses.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and data integration processes.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
