Role Description

This position is an opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in surgical oncology and regenerative medicine.

The selected candidate will be responsible for initiating and running a prospective Pakistan Brain Tumor Epidemiology Study, managing the Biorepository, conducting research related to surgical oncology, and expanding current areas of research in regenerative medicine and stem cell biology.

  • Develop and submit extramural grant proposals.
  • Develop and foster multi-disciplinary collaboration with faculty from across AKU and UCSF.
  • Engage and assist in developing specific modules/courses for graduate students in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
  • Oversee and manage teams and research, ensuring thesis development, publications, procuring funding, budgeting, and maintaining compliance with laboratory and ethical protocols.

Key responsibilities include presenting regular progress reports to the Director CRM and UCSF at periodic intervals, including a quinquennial review to an international committee.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have:

  • A PhD in the relevant subject area.
  • Research experience with first-hand laboratory experience.
  • Experience supervising graduate students, post-docs, and fellows.
  • Published works in journals of international repute.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
  • A track record of extramural grant funding.
