HIMS provides medical record keeping services, medical coding, cancer registry coding, medical transcription and document imaging, crucial for maintaining comprehensive patient clinical records.

  • Nearly 1.8 million medical records are maintained, with an average daily increase of 500 files.
  • Every day, HIMS circulates about 4000 records within the campus and with other services.
Responsibilities

As a Cancer Registrar, you will be responsible for identifying reportable neoplasms, coding and entering information in the registry database, and performing follow-up activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Case identification of all reportable neoplasms.
  • Reviewing and abstracting information from medical records, including demographic information, diagnostic and staging workup, procedures and treatment.
  • Performing follow-up activities, such as sending letters to physicians and patients.
  • Liaising with physicians for queries regarding newly identified cancer cases.
  • Providing presentations on different tumors to enhance understanding of disease processes.
  • Attending online sessions for continuing education.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree with physiology as a major subject.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs and software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
