Job Title: Desktop Application Developer

We are seeking a skilled software engineer to design, develop and maintain an application that collects data from air quality sensors and streams it to servers using Apache Kafka.

This role requires strong expertise in desktop application development, data handling and real-time data processing. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a robust desktop application to interface with air quality sensors, implementing data collection modules to gather real-time air quality metrics, integrating Kafka for data streaming and ensuring seamless data transfer to servers, collaborating with backend developers and data engineers to design efficient data pipelines, writing clean, efficient and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards, performing unit testing, debugging and troubleshooting to ensure application stability and performance, documenting software functionality, architecture and APIs for future reference and maintenance, and staying updated with the latest developments in desktop application development and Kafka.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Maintain a Robust Desktop Application: Develop and maintain a robust desktop application to interface with air quality sensors.
  2. Implement Data Collection Modules: Implement data collection modules to gather real-time air quality metrics.
  3. Integrate Kafka: Integrate Kafka for data streaming and ensure seamless data transfer to servers.
  4. Collaborate with Backend Developers: Collaborate with backend developers and data engineers to design efficient data pipelines.
  5. Write Clean Code: Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
  6. Perform Unit Testing: Perform unit testing, debugging and troubleshooting to ensure application stability and performance.
  7. Document Software: Document software functionality, architecture and APIs for future reference and maintenance.
  8. Stay Updated: Stay updated with the latest developments in desktop application development and Kafka.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  2. Proven Experience: Proven experience in desktop application development using technologies such as C#, Java or Python.
  3. Strong Experience: Strong experience with Kafka, including producing and consuming messages.
  4. Familiarity: Familiarity with IoT protocols and sensor data integration.
  5. Proficiency: Proficiency in developing APIs and integrating with backend services.
  6. Experience: Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies.
  7. Excellent Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  8. Strong Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience with Frameworks: Experience with frameworks such as Electron or Qt for desktop application development.
  2. Knowledge of Cloud Services: Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data storage and processing.
  3. Familiarity with Data Visualization Tools: Familiarity with data visualization tools and libraries.
