Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Hygiene Promotion Professional to join our team in delivering essential hygiene services to vulnerable communities. The successful candidate will work closely with the WASH Coordinator to ensure the effective implementation of hygiene promotion activities and community mobilization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rapid needs assessments and household-level assessments; supporting the transition of identified needs into activity plans and budgets.
  • Delivering the implementation of the aims and objectives of the WASH response program under guidance from the WASH Coordinator/Manager and strategy.
  • Supporting the development of concept papers, letters of intent, proposals, and budgets for assigned WASH areas.
  • Collaborating with other actors to deliver hygiene promotion programs tailored to local contexts and acceptable to beneficiaries.
  • Mobilizing the community on behavior change related to hygiene practices; identifying appropriate messages for the target population.
  • Working with community volunteers to identify locations/sites for WASH infrastructures and coordinating with CHVs to identify informal settlements in host communities.
  • Conducting focus group discussions and delivering clear messages on good hygiene practices.
  • Organizing training sessions and facilitating activities in health facilities, IDP camps, schools, and host communities; determining necessary materials for campaigns/activities.
  • Training and monitoring Community Hygiene Volunteer (CHV) promoters; collecting data for CHV beneficiaries and inputting beneficiary data into spreadsheets for NFI kit distribution; overseeing distribution of WASH items.
  • Training CHVs on hygiene promotion sessions and logging; collecting monthly CHV logs and certifying completed work; reporting progress to supervisor.
  • Participating in hygiene campaigns and drama shows in schools, community, and IDP camps; documenting health-related data and activity records; reporting challenges and successes to IMC for follow-up.
  • Collecting water samples when assigned and conducting quality tests; recording results.
  • Completing daily reports on CHV evaluation, water testing, and NFI distribution; coordinating with M&E for data inputs for impact analysis and contributing to donor, internal, and MEAL reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or relevant WASH specialization.
  • At least one year of experience implementing hygiene promotion systems in IDPs, refugee, and migrant contexts.
  • Two years of experience supervising and interacting with international staff, partners, and donors.
  • Field experience managing national water, sanitation, and hygiene programs in complex humanitarian settings, including emergencies.
  • Experience in national emergency and early recovery phases, including assessing and delivering hygiene promotion interventions in humanitarian and development contexts.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and propose positive solutions; strong understanding of the WASH sector and its software and hardware components.
  • Competent in using Windows and other software; strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Awareness of gender-related challenges within beneficiary groups.
