Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist

This position is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to paediatric patients in an outpatient setting.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with medical professionals to optimize medication therapy plans, monitor drug interactions, and ensure adherence to treatment regimens.
In addition to direct patient care, this role will involve participating in interdisciplinary rounds, developing educational programs for healthcare staff, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
To succeed in this challenging role, applicants should possess a strong foundation in paediatric pharmacology, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
- Review and process physician orders for accurate therapeutic doses
- Monitor laboratory reports for proper indication of antibiotics, drug-to-drug interactions, and duplication of same-class drugs
- Ensure timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients
- Verify accuracy of labels before dispensing
- Maintain up-to-date lists of expired drugs and complete them on a timely basis
- Assist with patient counseling for outpatient prescriptions and maintenance of cash payments
- Prepare cytotoxic drugs, TPN solutions, IVPB mixtures, sterile injections, bulk compounding, and monitor chemo-critical lists
