Medical Billing Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing health records, producing and submitting claims, working with insurance companies and healthcare providers, and resolving claim rejections and denials.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews health record documentation, super bill, computer generated reports and other reporting tools to identify all services and procedures performed by physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, laboratory technicians, and any other provider performing billable services.
  • Uses coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies.
  • Works directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider, and patient to get a claim processed and paid.
  • Reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims.
  • Verifies patients' insurance coverage.
  • Handles collections on unpaid accounts.
  • Manages the facility's Accounts Receivable.
