Heritage Architect Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Heritage Architect to contribute to a conservation project in the Northern Areas. The role involves architectural documentation, heritage assessment, conservation planning, and community collaboration.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct measured surveys and freehand sketches of historic structures on site.

  • Prepare accurate AutoCAD drawings including plans, sections, elevations, and detailed condition maps.

  • Participate in photographic documentation using DSLR and drone-based surveys.

  • Assist in preparing a strategic phased conservation plan incorporating heritage principles, material compatibility, and risk mitigation.

  • Support report writing, data organization, and heritage analysis aligned with international conservation charters.

  • Develop graphic presentations, diagrams, and visual materials to communicate conservation strategies and spatial understanding.

  • Engage with local artisans and communities to document traditional techniques and materials.

  • Collaborate with technical specialists.

  • Contribute to adaptive reuse strategies, design guidelines, and sustainability recommendations.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.

  • Strong architectural documentation and design skills.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

  • Excellent photographic skills for documentation and condition mapping.

  • Ability to produce well-structured technical reports.

  • Graphic communication skills for producing maps, diagrams, and illustrated documents.

  • Understanding of heritage conservation principles and charters.

  • Ability to work in remote field conditions.

  • Collaborative mindset in cross-disciplinary environments.

Detailed Requirements:

  • Familiarity with heritage projects and vernacular architecture.

  • Knowledge of traditional materials such as rubble stone, mud mortar, and timber construction.

  • Interest in sustainable conservation practices.

  • Fluency in regional languages is desirable.

Background

This role will be based in the Northern Areas and requires working at high altitudes. Candidates should be adaptable and able to work effectively in diverse environments.
