Job Title:

Optical Network Specialist

The role involves overseeing the installation, maintenance and repair of optical fiber networks. As a network specialist you will be responsible for ensuring that the network is operating at peak performance levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain fiber network availability and ensure compliance to Service Level Agreement
  • Perform operations and maintenance tasks on Fiber Optic Core, Metro and Access Networks
  • Rectify remote and onsite network equipment failures and performance degraded links
  • Conduct audits and monitor teams for day-to-day activities
  • Maintain complete network documentation for fault localization and timely resolution
  • Supervise area teams and address onsite network faults and queries
  • Liaise with vendors and evaluate their performance
  • Assist in planning preventive maintenance of equipment and fiber plant
  • Oversee inventories and calibration of tools and test equipment
  • Assist in acceptance testing and handover/takeover activity
  • Escalate issues to head office if not resolved in time frames
  • Install, commission and integrate SDH/DWDM Equipment and other network peripherals
  • Conduct Civil Works Inspection for Fiber Cable Protection
  • Ensure update Network Diagrams, as-built drawings and fiber pair utilization schema

Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure and excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
