About This Role
The Strategic Polio Advisor will play a key role in supporting the planning, implementation, and assessment of all UNICEF polio-related activities in Pakistan and Afghanistan. As part of the ROSA Regional Director's team, you will represent UNICEF in GPEI regional coordination and oversight bodies, providing strategic input to the Global Polio Eradication Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for UNICEF's country teams on polio eradication initiatives in Pakistan and Afghanistan, ensuring effective coordination and support.
- Collaborate with global health partners to align strategies and implement joint projects that address vaccine-preventable diseases.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and international partners.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative solutions to improve access to healthcare services and enhance disease surveillance.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in global health, applying this knowledge to inform policy decisions and programmatic interventions.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
- At least ten years of experience in global health, with a focus on vaccine-preventable diseases.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in developing and implementing policies and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of another official UN language an asset.
