Network Support Specialist

Key to ensuring the smooth operation of an organization's network and computer systems is a skilled Network Support Specialist.

This role involves various critical IT functions, including hardware and software management, technical support, and security audits. A successful candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, proficiency in Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments, and additional certifications in Microsoft, Linux, or Cisco technologies.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in operation and maintenance of local networks and computer systems and a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, IT, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a relevant field.

Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware, setting up and managing network devices, providing technical support for diagnosing and resolving network issues, implementing and maintaining network security protocols, conducting regular network security audits, planning and performing regular network maintenance, and assisting with disaster recovery planning and backup management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Hardware and Software Management: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Network Configuration: Set up and manage network devices, VLANs, and subnetting, following established policies.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for diagnosing and resolving network issues related to connectivity, performance, or security.
  • Network Security: Implement and maintain network security protocols such as firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems).
  • Security Audits: Conduct regular network security audits and ensure compliance with industry and organizational security standards.
  • Network Maintenance: Plan, schedule, and perform regular network maintenance, firmware updates, and hardware upgrades.
  • Backup Management: Assist with disaster recovery planning and ensure backup management to make network data recoverable in case of system failure.
Required Skills:
  • Proficient in Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Additional certifications in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, or similar technologies are a plus.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and timely reports for management.
