Expert in Digital Democracy and Civic Innovation

This position focuses on advancing democratic processes through the empowerment of active citizens, responsible leaders, and accountable institutions. The role will serve as a technical anchor for guiding project teams, partners, and civil society organizations to implement impactful strategies for digital democracy.

The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of virtual trainings, mentoring, and learning engagements for civil society organizations. They will also develop tools, frameworks, and guides to enhance CSOs' effectiveness in digital organizing and participatory governance.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of democratic systems, CSO ecosystems, digital rights, and civic challenges. They should possess proven facilitation, mentorship, and training skills, especially virtually.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to contribute meaningfully to democratic strengthening through digital engagement and civic innovation.

The position requires a Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Development Studies, Governance, Digital Innovation, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of experience in democratic development, digital rights, civic innovation, and civil society strengthening is necessary.

The selected candidate will work closely with program officers to ensure quality and coherence in program implementation. They will also participate in regional convenings to share project findings and facilitate peer learning among grantees.

Key qualifications include excellent coordination, communication, and networking abilities. Strong writing, reporting, and presentation skills in English are essential.

They will be able to work independently and in multicultural teams. The ability to adapt to new situations and technologies is also crucial.

  • Leadership:
    • Provide overarching technical input to the project's strategy on digital democracy, civic engagement, participatory governance, and digital innovation.
    • Guide the design and delivery of project components to ensure alignment with trends, stakeholder needs, and democratic priorities across regions.
  • Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs):
    • Lead the design and delivery of virtual trainings, mentoring, and learning engagements for CSOs.
    • Develop tools, frameworks, and guides to enhance CSOs' effectiveness in digital organizing and participatory governance.
  • Coordination with Program Officers (CPOs):
    • Serve as a technical and strategic advisor to POs, ensuring quality and coherence in program implementation.
  • Stakeholder Mapping and Engagement:
    • Lead regional stakeholder mapping in digital democracy, civic participation, and social innovation.
  • Advocacy and Knowledge Support:
    • Provide strategic input into advocacy strategies on digital democracy.
