Lead AI Engineer Job Description

At our organization, we are seeking a highly skilled and driven Lead AI Engineer to fill a critical role. In this position, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models.

This is a pivotal position that requires deep technical expertise in modern AI/LLM systems, a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning, and the ability to assess trade-offs between models and techniques.

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable RAG-based architectures for various use cases.
  • Explore and implement alternative techniques beyond RAG (e.g., fine-tuning, distillation, memory networks, graph neural networks, or hybrid retrieval-generation models).
  • Perform rigorous model evaluations and benchmarking (e.g., accuracy, latency, cost) and make clear, data-backed recommendations for production deployment.
  • Collaborate with product and research teams to align model capabilities with business needs.
  • Leverage strong mathematical reasoning and algorithmic thinking to solve complex inference, retrieval, and optimization challenges.
