Insurance Leadership Role

This challenging position involves overseeing the insurance function, ensuring adequate coverage for assets and guiding personnel on policy renewals and claims handling.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, accounts, or business administration, with at least 10 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, they may hold ACCA certification with at least 6 years of experience, or CA/ACMA certification with at least 4 years of post-membership experience.

Candidates with ACII qualification/certification will be given preference.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage overall insurance operations, including acquiring insurance coverage for assets.
  2. Support and guide personnel on policy renewals and claims handling.
  3. Coordinate with departments to develop insurance policies and strategies to cover risks.
  4. Review insurance policies regularly to ensure adequacy.
  5. Obtain approval from senior management for additional cover conditions or policy terms.
  6. Liaise with surveyors/loss adjusters to oversee the insurance claims process.
  7. Manage queries related to claims investigations from insurance companies and surveyors.
  8. Review insurance claims data before processing.
  9. Organize accounting and audits of retirement funds and review financial statements.
  10. Collaborate with procurement and legal departments on insurance policy reviews and proposals.
  11. Participate in gas purchase negotiations and review financial aspects.
  12. Review bid bonds, performance bonds, and guarantees, and arrange refunds upon satisfactory performance.
  13. Assist user departments with tender processes and ensure compliance with PPRA rules.
  14. Ensure compliance with withholding tax requirements.
  15. Advise management on RLNG imports and review financial aspects during negotiations.
  16. Review financial aspects during union negotiations.
  17. Handle bank voucher preparations and payments for various expenses.
  18. Coordinate with departments and gas companies regarding gas purchases.
  19. Assess inquiries from insurance and other external parties to ensure information adequacy.
  20. Coordinate with internal and external parties during catastrophic events.
  21. Identify, assess, and develop response strategies for risks.
  22. Monitor risks and response strategies.
  23. Ensure accurate and timely risk reporting.
