Staff Engineer Role Overview

As a Staff Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading the design and implementation of scalable, performant, and maintainable front-end systems. This position requires a deep understanding of modern front-end frameworks, system design, and architecture.

Main Responsibilities
  • Front-end System Design and Implementation: Architect, design, and build complex front-end systems using modern JavaScript frameworks (React.js preferred) that are responsive, accessible, and scalable.
  • Design System and Component Libraries: Lead the development and maintenance of our design system, reusable component libraries, and front-end build pipelines.
  • System Architecture: Collaborate on the definition and implementation of system architecture across the front-end and interface boundaries—establishing strong patterns for performance, state management, and scalability.
  • API Integration: Work closely with backend engineers to integrate APIs efficiently and define contracts that optimize front-end needs.
  • Web Performance and Accessibility: Champion web performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices, using tools like Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and custom monitoring dashboards to track and improve real-user experiences.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Drive the adoption of frontend engineering best practices, including testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and code review standards. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership through design reviews, pair programming, and collaborative problem-solving.
Requirements
  • Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks like React.js (preferred), or Next.js, with an understanding of SSR, hydration, and bundling strategies.
  • System Design Knowledge: Strong knowledge of system design, micro-frontends, modular architectures, and distributed frontend systems.
  • Programming Skills: Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 (including modern pre-/post-processors, CSS-in-JS solutions).
  • API Integration Experience: Experience integrating with RESTful and GraphQL APIs; familiarity with API design principles and contract-first development.
  • Web Performance Optimization: Proficiency in web performance optimization techniques and tooling.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD pipelines for front-end deployments, and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Vercel.
  • Testing Tools: Familiarity with testing tools and practices for front-end applications (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Experience and Education: 10+ years of software development experience, with a significant focus on front-end technologies and system architecture. Proven ability to collaborate across teams and communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in-office a minimum of three days a week.
