Lead Accessibility and Accommodations Specialist

As a Lead Accessibility and Accommodations Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities at our institution.

About the Role

This position involves overseeing the development, implementation, review, and revision of practices, services, and policies related to academic accommodations and accessibility. You will work closely with team members and other departments to create an inclusive environment for both students and staff.

You will be responsible for coordinating between students, the Office of Accessibility and Inclusion, the Accessibility Committee, and facilitators of students/employees with disabilities. This includes preparing, maintaining, and updating website material related to the domain.

In consultation with the Director, you will develop and implement quality-based assessment processes to improve the Academic Accommodation program's progress. You will also design and incorporate technological changes and process enhancements in support of Academic Accommodation.

Maintaining records of interactions with students with disabilities and analyzing effectiveness of accommodations are essential parts of this role. You will compile reports and analyze data related to accommodations, compliance, and program efficacy.

You will collect and maintain data to evaluate and measure the success of the program. Reviewing and evaluating assistive technologies and research while keeping a prime focus on learning alternatives for students with disabilities is also a key responsibility.

Developing and delivering awareness campaigns, workshops, and mandatory trainings across the LUMS community to build an inclusive community where everyone feels safe and welcomed is a crucial aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, implement, review, and revise practices, services, and policies related to academic accommodations and accessibility.
  2. Collaborate with team members and other departments to create an inclusive environment for both students and staff.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study, preferably education, psychology, or social sciences.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in educational contexts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and disability-related research.
