Job Description

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary hospital. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional patient care and support to our veterinary team.

Treatment Areas and Cleanliness: Ensure that treatment areas, examination rooms, hospital areas, cages, and laboratories are clean and well-organized at all times.

Equipment Sterilization: Sterilize equipment according to established protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment for both patients and staff.

Patient Comfort: Ensure that clients and pets are comfortable in the waiting area by maintaining a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Care and Cleaning: Provide empathetic care for hospitalized patients, and keep patients and their cages clean to prevent the spread of disease.

Restraint and Handling: Restraining irritable, angry patients appropriately and safely where required, while prioritizing the well-being and safety of both humans and animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with administering medication, drawing blood, and cleaning patients' teeth.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests as required.
  • Liaise with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Comply with hospital standards, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You should also have a strong attention to detail and be able to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Education and Training: A Certificate or Diploma in Veterinary Assistance or a related field would be highly desirable, although not essential. We are willing to provide on-the-job training for the right candidate.
