Job Title: Optometry Professor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometry Professor to join our team. As an Optometry Professor, you will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, developing your own teaching and learning skills, and contributing to the planning of teaching programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Meet annual targets assigned by the Head of Department.
  2. Work towards securing a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students.
  3. Teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy.
  4. Continue to develop your own teaching and learning skills and contribute to the planning of teaching programs.
  5. Employ innovative teaching strategies and facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
  6. Challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.
  7. Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements.
  8. Set, mark, and assess work and examinations and provide feedback to students.
  9. Maintain records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation.
  10. Execute mentoring of 15-20 students as per the Riphah Mentoring Program.
  11. Update data in Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other required software as per requirements.
  12. Link and incorporate Islamic and ethical values in teaching.
  13. Participate in departmental and university committee activities as required.
  14. Ensure teaching content and methods are aligned with the institution's mission.
  15. Respond to issues relating to subordinates and student needs.
  16. Supervise/randomly check student attendance in classes/labs/practicals.
  17. Write or contribute to publications or disseminate research findings using appropriate media.
  18. Seek practical application of research findings.
  19. Carry out independent research and act as principal investigator and project leader.
  20. Act as a line manager, supervising the work of others, for example, in research teams and projects, or as PhD supervisor when required.
  21. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
