Nephrology Physician

Job Description:

The Nephrology Physician will provide comprehensive care to patients with kidney disease, including diagnosis, treatment, and management. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and manage patients under nephrology care, including instructing and directing clinical staff and educating medical students assigned to the service.
  2. Conduct daily ward rounds for primary nephrology patients and those referred for nephrology consultation.
  3. Rounding on patients undergoing hemodialysis, including both inpatients and outpatients.
  4. Performing dialysis catheter insertions under supervision until independently certified by the Program Director; observing and assisting in renal biopsy procedures.
  5. Serving as the first point of contact for nephrology consultations: taking patient history, reviewing prior medical records, conducting physical examinations, analyzing relevant investigations, and formulating a detailed assessment and set of recommendations to be presented to the attending physician.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • MBBS degree with a valid PMDC License
  • FCPS/MRCP part I
  • 2-year experience in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution
