Biomedical Operations Manager


Job Description:

The role of a Biomedical Operations Manager involves heading the after-sales and service department. This includes providing direct support to the sales/marketing team as well as conducting clinical application trainings.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. To acquire in-depth knowledge on all life-saving medical equipment dealt by the organization. This includes operating, technical, and clinical aspects.
  2. Periodically review previous work completion data, future projected scheduled work assignments, quality assurance-related issues, new equipment incoming inspections, and other projects or equipment support needs. Ensure that processes are in place to respond appropriately to all work requests from equipment users.
  3. Collaborate with the departmental team and clients on projects related to new equipment acquisition, installation, renovation, modification, or removal. This includes the annual evaluation of medical equipment requiring replacement. Directly oversee the progress and status of such projects when necessary.
  4. Participate in and/or assist with the development of departmental and hospital-based continuous quality improvement initiatives. Maximize patient safety by supporting the proper use, application, and operational performance of patient care equipment. Understand and comply with applicable standards and regulations.
  5. Manage service contracts effectively. Routinely assess the cost-effectiveness of these contracts and make recommendations. Evaluate the work performed to ensure its cost-effectiveness and applicability. Regularly meet with clients to discuss the failure rate and repair history of major devices and systems.
  6. Perform planned maintenance of dialysis machines or others as per service contracts or requirements.
  7. Maintain accurate records of services performed and keep this information up-to-date.
  8. Stay updated regarding competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.
  9. Gain command over the operating, clinical aspects of equipment and assist the marketing/sales team in demonstrations/installations/trainings during tenders, projects, etc. with and without patients attached to the equipment(s).
  10. Making technical comparisons of products in competition and discussing them with technical members of hospitals during tenders, projects, and quotations along with marketing/sales personnel is crucial.
  11. Develop strong relationships with clinicians, HODs, and the biomedical department to prepare specifications for medical equipment tendering. This helps in comparing our equipment with others instead of relying solely on our own product specifications.
  12. Meet and satisfy Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) about our product before and after purchase, ensuring their confidence remains high at all times in the company's technical and clinical support.

  1. Possess a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical/Electronics preferably accompanied by BBA or MBA (E).
  2. 5 years of relevant experience in an equivalent position with excellent management skills (E).
  3. A Biomedical Manager must be highly analytical, efficient, detail-oriented, computer literate, and technically adept (E).
  4. Possess a pleasant personality with positive initiative & drive (E).
  5. Possess excellent communication & presentation skills (E).
  6. Possess strong learning ability (E).
