Medical Billing Manager Job Description

The role of Medical Billing Manager is a critical position within our organization, responsible for managing accounts and collections to drive revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track outstanding payments and revenue performance.
  • Conduct internal audits to identify areas for improvement and optimize department efficiency.
  • Lead a high-performing medical billing team and oversee all activities from month-end closing to reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies through thorough account research and aging analysis.
  • Maintain accurate aging reports and interact with customers to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Perform account reconciliations, monitor customer account details, and research payment discrepancies.
  • Review medical billing practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Manage accounts receivable customer files and records, investigate customer queries, and develop recovery systems.
  • Communicate effectively with customers via phone, email, or in person.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Extensive knowledge of medical billing procedures and protocols.
  • Understanding of office administration and management principles.
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping and accounting principles, including financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software, including MS Office (Excel) and other industry-specific tools.
  • Awareness of regulatory standards and compliance requirements, including HIPAA and ICD-10.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Information management, problem analysis, and problem-solving skills, with ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work under stress and pressure, with strong time management and adaptability skills.
  • Customer service skills, with ability to provide exceptional service and support to clients and internal stakeholders.
