Job Description

The role of a Radiographer involves performing radiology procedures with specified positions of the patient as prescribed by physicians, ensuring required safety measures are taken for both patients and equipment. The ideal candidate will have good working knowledge of diagnostic procedures and operation of equipment.

This position requires guiding junior colleagues in doing procedures as well as proper handling/care of equipment. The responsibilities include:

  • Performing radiology procedures according to departmental standards and processes.
  • Positioning equipment at the correct distance and angle from the patient's body to present clear and undisturbed images.
  • Selecting the appropriate cassette for each procedure.
  • Performing diagnostic procedures on patients as prescribed by clinicians while observing prescribed safety measures.
  • Properly logging procedures performed.
  • Determining the correct voltage, current, and exposure time for each procedure.
  • Processing images and checking quality as required.
  • Performing procedures from different angles as prescribed by physicians.
  • Maintaining equipment through cleaning and minor adjustments, reporting any faults or breakdowns to the supervisor.
  • Assisting in training new technicians during their orientation.
  • Performing portable procedures as needed by moving equipment to relevant patient care areas.
  • Ensuring radiation monitoring devices are worn.
  • Performing regular quality checks on Radiology equipment.
  • Working shifts and scheduling patients for procedures if required.
  • Guiding and training junior colleagues/trainees.
