Instrumentation and Control Engineer Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing engineering deliverables, including specifications, instrument datasheets, logic diagrams, etc.
  2. Conducting sizing calculations for valves, flow meters, pneumatic, and hydraulic power systems.
  3. Designing, testing, and commissioning WHCP systems.
  4. Carrying out instrument cable voltage drop and intrinsically safe circuit calculations.
  5. Reviewing and commenting on inter-disciplinary documents.
  6. Providing inputs and reviewing engineering drawings, including panel layouts, electrical schematics, cable and JB schedules, cable routing layouts, instrument installation details, process/pneumatic hook-ups, interconnection diagrams, loop diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams.
  7. Carrying out onshore and offshore site surveys as required.
  8. Attending interface meetings with clients and vendors to progress design scopes.
  9. Reviewing vendor offers, preparing technical clarifications, and preparing technical bid evaluation reports.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation & Control Engineering with at least 4+ years of experience in detailed engineering and design of instrumentation and control works for oil and gas projects in a similar position.
  • Fully familiar with relevant international codes, standards, and recommended practices such as ISA, NEC, NFPA, BS API, IEC, etc.
  • Competent to carry out the design activity in the design-check-approve-authorize cycle.
  • General knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks. Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
