Water Management Assistant Job Description

This job posting is for a Water Management Assistant role in the FAO office located in Tandojam. The successful candidate will support project activities under Component 1 of the Transforming Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management project.

The position requires a Master's degree in climatology, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental/water engineering, or a closely related field. At least one year of professional experience in weather, climate, hydrology, hydrogeology, remote sensing for agriculture or water resources management is also required.

Key responsibilities include supporting coordination with provincial agriculture and water stakeholders, monitoring telemetry data from instruments, ensuring service providers submit proper documentations, organizing training events and workshops, and participating in technical evaluations.

Strong analytical and report writing skills in English are necessary, as well as computer skills in QGIS and Microsoft Office Applications. Fluency in local languages spoken in the target districts is an asset.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in climatology, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental/water engineering, or a closely related field
  • At least one year of professional experience in weather, climate, hydrology, hydrogeology, remote sensing for agriculture or water resources management
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills in English
  • Computer skills in QGIS and Microsoft Office Applications
Skills:
  • Sound knowledge of water management in the context of Sindh Province
  • Experience in working or coordinating with governmental organizations and engaging farmers in natural resources management
  • Experience in working for the project target districts in Sindh (Sanghar, Umarkot, and/or Badin) for an agriculture-, climate- or water-related project(s)
