System Design and Research Lead

This role involves designing and implementing a system assessment to understand organizational performance in complex environments. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of a diagnostic map of the organization's value creation process and its bottlenecks.

  • Leverage global research on system assessment to develop a contextually relevant framework for the organization.
  • Develop visual and conceptual representations of how the organization operates, including flows of information, value, and decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing a research plan involving document review, policy analysis, stakeholder interviews (KIIs), and focus groups (FGDs).
  • Collecting qualitative data from various stakeholders, including school leaders, field teams, and internal departments.
  • Translating findings into strategic insights that inform action.
  • Maintaining tight alignment with organizational planning cycles.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in systems thinking, qualitative research, and strategic inquiry. They will be able to contribute to the wider work of the Strategic Alignment team and help surface opportunities for system-level change.

A successful outcome of this role includes:

  • A credible, context-aware systems diagnosis framework piloted and refined.
  • Key systemic gaps identified and communicated in usable formats.
  • Study findings meaningfully informing planning and design conversations, leading to positive shifts in policy and practice.
