About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of professionals in Islamabad, Pakistan. As a Project Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring projects, providing technical leadership assistance, and coordinating with various stakeholders.

You will work closely with the FAO Representative, Assistants, Heads of Provinces, Operations, Procurement Unit, and other units and teams. You will receive technical guidance from the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and relevant units at FAO headquarters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical leadership assistance on project development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinates projects and reviews assessments of issues and trends
  • Supervises preparation of written outputs, including background papers, analyses, and reports
  • Contributes to meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Liaises with external consultants, government officials, and other parties

You will also be responsible for ensuring that expenditures are kept within resources allotted, managing adjustments to allotments as needed, and providing leadership on anticipatory action, preparedness, needs assessment, emergency response, coordination, programming, implementation, and resource mobilization.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of project management, administration, technical cooperation, policy advice, and analysis related to food and nutrition security, agriculture, and rural development. You should also have experience in programme formulation, planning, and implementation, as well as knowledge of planning and budgetary processes.

In addition, you should possess excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. You must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
