Job Summary

This is an opportunity to oversee the operation, maintenance and day-to-day activities of assigned utility areas. The role requires supervising and executing jobs in designated areas such as HVAC operations, water and steam systems, effluent treatment, and ancillaries. It demands cross-functional coordination and alignment with operational engineering staff working in production areas to achieve targeted results in utilities operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing site utilities and facilities to ensure their availability for business continuity. They will supervise efforts by internal staff and external contractors to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, test, and replace equipment and components for systems such as utility supplies (water, gas, electrical), HVAC, chillers, air compressors, water purification systems, boilers, air handling units, facilities, clean rooms, and exhaust equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and control site utilities and facilities to ensure their availability for business continuity, while monitoring budget and expenses to reduce operational costs and meet targets.
  2. Supervise efforts by internal staff and external contractors to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, test, and replace equipment and components for systems such as utility supplies (water, gas, electrical), HVAC, chillers, air compressors, water purification systems, boilers, air handling units, facilities, clean rooms, and exhaust equipment.
  3. Lead and coordinate a team of internal and external resources during project development, support utilities manager in planning annual budgets and project plans, and assist in developing site capital expenditures.
  4. Plan and execute activities related to maintaining and repairing physical systems, including utilities equipment, and effective asset life cycle management.
  5. Control and manage engineering supplies and contractual services to ensure satisfied quality, spare inventory, and service level.
  6. Carry out engineering utilities-related risk assessment procedures, self-inspections, and conduct/review gap analyses for GESs/ES's/EP's applied to utilities systems.
  7. Ensure compliance with local standards applicable to utilities, in conjunction with the EHS department.
  8. Develop and define maintenance routines for all items of equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Possesses strong communication, presentation, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrates effective negotiation and time management skills.
  • Competent and knowledgeable in utility systems, techniques, and methods, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Capable of leading both operational problem-solving and project work.
