Cloud Data Architect

This position involves designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure for data integration, storage, processing, and analytics in a remote contract role.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance data architectures supporting data integration, storage, processing, and orchestration. These architectures will be based on APIs, platforms, data lakes, warehouses, and other relevant technologies.
  • Contribute to detailed design discussions and customer requirements sessions.
  • Participate in the design, development, and testing of big data products, focusing on efficiency and scalability.
  • Implement and fine-tune Apache Spark jobs and clusters within the Databricks platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Assess best practices and design schemas that meet business needs for delivering modern analytics solutions (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive).
  • Develop clear, maintainable code with automated testing using Pytest, unittest, integration tests, performance tests, regression tests, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Data Scientists, and Analysts to understand data requirements and develop data solutions meeting product deliverables.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve data integration, processing, storage, and analysis.
  • Design, implement, and maintain data governance solutions: cataloging, lineage, data quality, and data governance frameworks suitable for a modern analytics solution.
  • Continuously monitor and fine-tune workloads and clusters for optimal performance.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of solutions, configurations, and best practices implemented.
  • Promote and enforce best practices in data engineering, data governance, and data quality.
  • Ensure data accuracy and quality.
  • Implement and maintain data security and privacy measures.
  • Collaborate as an Agile team member, participating in all ceremonies and continuous improvement activities, working independently as well as collaboratively.
