Optometrist Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Optometry/Othoptics Lecturer. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of education and research.
Main Responsibilities- Meet annual targets assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).
- Contribute to maintaining a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students, aligning with the goals set by the Dean/Principal of the University.
- Teach assigned courses, adhering to the faculty workload policy.
- Develop own teaching and learning skills, contributing to the planning of teaching programs.
- Foster innovative teaching strategies, facilitating experiential learning during lessons.
- Promote critical thinking, debate, and rational thinking among students.
- Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, where applicable.
- Evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student academic performance for internal evaluation.
- Mentor 15-20 students through the Riphah Mentoring Program.
- Update data in Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other required software.
- Incorporate Islamic and ethical values into teaching, participating in departmental and university committees as necessary.
- Ensure teaching content and delivery methods align with RIU mission.
- Address subordinate and student needs, ensuring a positive learning environment.
- Monitor student attendance in classes/labs/practicals.
- Engage in independent research, acting as principal investigator and project leader.
- Supervise the work of others in research teams and projects or as PhD supervisor, when required.
- Degree in Optometry/Othoptics or relevant field.
- Relevant teaching experience, preferably in higher education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
