The Research Office is responsible for providing support to the institution's externally and internally sponsored projects by offering pre- and post-award assistance to principal investigators and ensuring compliance with Temple and sponsor regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate administrative procedures for externally sponsored projects.
  • Support faculty with grant proposal submissions in conjunction with Sponsored Projects Administration (budget development; award documentation; administrative portions of proposals; internal approvals; monitoring issues around effort, cost share, space needs, and tuition remission).
  • Provide assistance to faculty regarding contracts, progress reports, NCEs, and other sponsor-related grant actions.
  • Support faculty with post-award grant management, including projections, effort allocations and reporting, human resources, consultants, and close-outs.
  • Coordinate internal and external reporting needs, including maintenance of research databases.
  • Develop and maintain web pages related to the award process.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Research Strategy to set goals and responsibilities within the research office and monitor procedural efficiencies.
  • This position is responsible for fostering collaborations among research faculty across departments and colleges and supporting the mentorship of junior faculty. Develop programs and activities that will increase funding for research from all public and private sources, establish and maintain excellent relationships with donors and stakeholders, oversee proposal development and submission.
  • Identify a strategy for promoting multidisciplinary collaboration within the university.
  • Develop a structure for mentoring junior faculty.
  • Facilitate collaborations among faculty through identifying overlapping research interests and providing opportunities for communication.
  • Provide information about the grant process to faculty, including study section procedures, interpreting reviews, and identifying appropriate funding mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain research cores and infrastructure within the institute, including web pages, internal grant review procedures, and statistical support.
  • Communicate with Development at both university and college levels about research initiatives and strengths.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Master/MS/M Phil in any discipline with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research administration, including pre- and post-award processes, budgeting, compliance, and grant management. Familiarity with institutional and sponsor policies, research funding mechanisms, and faculty mentorship is essential.
  • Experience in fostering multidisciplinary collaborations, developing research infrastructure, and managing stakeholder relationships is required. Proficiency in research reporting systems and strategic planning is also necessary.
