Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an IT Security & System Engineer located in Lahore. The IT Security & Systems Engineer will support day-to-day IT operations while maintaining a strong focus on security management, both for in-house infrastructure and cloud environments (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS).

This role involves working across system administration, network management, endpoint protection, and security operations, ensuring the company's IT assets are secure, reliable, and aligned with compliance standards.

Core Responsibilities:

Security Operations:

  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents via Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, or similar SIEM tools.
  • Manage firewalls (preferably pfSense) and VPNs, applying perimeter security best practices.
  • Administer identity and access controls - MFA, Conditional Access, and DLP in Microsoft 365 and Azure AD.
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, patch management, and endpoint protection.
  • Maintain system hardening standards for Windows, Linux, and network devices.
  • Support incident response and disaster recovery documentation.

System Administration:

  • Manage Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO) and Linux environments.
  • Oversee backups, automation tasks, and security monitoring.
  • Ensure uptime, performance, and patch compliance.
  • Maintain documentation of infrastructure, accounts, and changes.

Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration:

  • Administer and secure Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
  • Configure and monitor Security & Compliance Center features.
  • Manage access control and monitoring in AWS and Azure.
  • Assist with cloud backup and data protection strategies.

Networking & Connectivity:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot routing, VPNs, VLANs, and secure gateways.
  • Monitor pfSense or equivalent firewalls and secure file transfers (FTP/SFTP).
  • Conduct diagnostics using tools like Wireshark and nmap.

Automation & Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell and Bash scripts for automation (backups, logs, health checks).
  • Ensure documentation, security validation, and efficiency of all automation tasks.

Required Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Experience with pfSense or similar firewalls.
  • Administration of Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS), and Active Directory.
  • Proficiency in AWS/Azure, Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance, IAM, and endpoint protection.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, DLP, EDR, patch management, and backup systems.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity.
  • 2 -5 years of professional experience in IT system administration, networking, or infrastructure security.
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one of: pfSense, Azure AD, AWS IAM, or M365 security.
