Job Role

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, investor relations, and compliance with UK taxation (HMRC) requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in financial data analysis, forecasting, and strategic insights to support business growth and investor decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and statutory reports in compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations.
  • Manage tax planning, VAT returns, and corporate tax filings while ensuring timely submission to HMRC.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Provide detailed financial data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for business growth.
  • Coordinate with senior management to present financial results and forecasts during investor meetings and board discussions.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and overall financial health of the company.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and external consultants as required.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in financial management, including at least 3 years in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
  • Strong expertise in UK taxation and HMRC compliance.
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and data modeling.
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial reports to investors and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar) and proficiency in MS Excel/Power BI for data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of working in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in working with international or multi-entity organizations.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting for investment rounds, mergers, or acquisitions.
