Company Description
Mahwari Justice is a period rights organisation working to eliminate period poverty in Pakistan.
Since 2022, we have provided menstrual aid in disaster-affected areas, developed education
resources, conducted awareness sessions, mobilised communities, and engaged in policy
dialogue to end menstrual stigma. Our current project, Me in Menstruation, creates inclusive
and accessible menstrual education resources for menstruators with sensory disabilities (hearing
and visual).
Role Purpose
The Program Coordinator (Disability Inclusive MHM) leads the co-creation, production, and
field-testing of accessible menstrual education resources and supports their integration into
school sessions and caregiver/teacher toolkits, ensuring feminist pedagogical approaches and
accessibility standards throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the co-creation process to develop an illustrated menstrual education guide and its Braille edition, an audio series, and PSL-interpreted videos, plus a teacher/caregiver toolkit.
- Ensure all products meet agreed accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA for digital, high-contrast visuals, descriptive audio, accurate PSL, Grade-2 Braille formatting) and are culturally relevant and gender-inclusive.
- Draft, test, and iterate workshop plans, agendas, and facilitation guides tailored to diverse stakeholders (school reps, teachers, disability advocates, menstruators with disabilities, caregivers).
- Organise and facilitate co-creation workshops, with accessibility supports (PSL interpretation, captioning, alt-text, tactile diagrams, etc).
- Coordinate with DPOs/OPDs, schools, interpreters, and audio/Braille production vendors.
- Mentor Mahwari Justice staff on disability-inclusive practices (design, facilitation, monitoring, safeguarding).
- Deliver 2–3 internal trainings on accessibility, inclusive language, and reasonable accommodations.
- Plan and execute dissemination sessions in target districts; manage participant outreach, venue accessibility checks, and travel logistics.
- Maintain documentation: consent forms, attendance, incident/safeguarding logs, and accessibility checklists.
Expected Deliverables & KPIs
- Analysis of the project research (surveys and interviews) on disability inclusive MHM education.
- Design and implementation of a tool co-creation workshop.
- Resource suite produced (v1, pilot-tested, revised v2):
- A guide (print & accessible PDF), Braille edition, audio series (min. 6 episodes), PSL video series (min. 6 videos with open captions & transcripts). 2. Teacher/caregiver toolkit with lesson plans and accommodation guidance.
- Dissemination sessions: at least 12 school sessions
- Capacity building: 2-3 internal trainings; staff adoption of accessibility checklist across activities.
- Quality criteria: Resources meet accessibility checks (PSL accuracy ≥95%; transcripts/alt-text coverage 100%; Braille proofed and field-tested).
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Degree in social sciences, education, public/health sciences, disability studies, or related field.
- Bachelor's: 2-4 years relevant experience; Master's: 1-3 years. Outstanding fresh graduates with substantial volunteer/project experience are encouraged to apply.
- At least 3 years of working on disability-inclusive projects in education/resource development with feminist pedagogy.
- Experience with menstrual health education.
- Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate inclusive agendas/workshops and manage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
- Language: Fluency in Urdu and English; PSL familiarity and/or experience working with PSL interpreters strongly preferred.
