Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer Job Description

Job Summary:

An HSE Officer is responsible for ensuring food safety, compliance with health and environmental regulations, and fostering a culture of food safety within the organization. Should be well versed in risks & hazard management and also competent in food hazard management. Must have experience in large industrial catering companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health & Safety Compliance:

  2. Ensure the organization complies with health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.

  3. Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and HSE training programs.

  4. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the workplace.

  5. Inspections & Audits:

  6. Perform regular site inspections to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

  7. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.

  8. Maintain records of inspections, audits, and incident reports.

  9. Training & Awareness:

  10. Organize safety training programs for employees, contractors, and management.

  11. Promote a strong safety culture through workshops, meetings, and awareness campaigns.

  12. Ensure employees use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science & technologies, knowledge of environmental management.

  • Certification in HSE (e.g.HACCP) is preferred.

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an HSE role.

  • Strong knowledge of HSE laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and accident investigations.

  • Proficiency in safety management systems and reporting tools.
