Overview:

The Automation Lead (Power Automation) will be responsible for leading the design, execution, and management of projects focused on Power Automation Systems, including Protection Relays, SCADA, Substation Automation, and Power Management Systems (PMS). The role requires strong expertise in integrating automation and control solutions within power distribution, transmission, and industrial energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of Power Automation Projects, including system design, engineering, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and client handover.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and quality project delivery.
  • Design and implement SCADA, PMS, and Substation Automation Systems (SAS) using platforms like Siemens, Schneider, ABB, or GE.
  • Configure and integrate IEDs, Protection Relays, RTUs, PLCs, and Communication Protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC , etc.).
  • Provide technical leadership for automation architecture, system programming, and integration of power systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in communication networks, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Lead and mentor engineers and technicians, ensuring adherence to design standards and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, grid codes, and relevant IEC standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring effective communication and technical clarity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support business development through technical proposals, cost estimation, and client presentations.
  • Conduct system performance reviews and recommend optimizations for efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and prepare detailed progress reports for management and clients.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Power Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of experience in Power Automation, Substation Automation, or Power Management Systems.
  • Proven experience with Siemens SICAM, Schneider EcoStruxure, ABB Relion/RTU, or equivalent systems.
  • Strong background in relay configuration, SCADA integration, and power system communication networks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep technical understanding of Protection, Control, and Automation in power systems.
  • Hands-on experience with protocols, communication networks, and system integration.
  • Strong project management and team leadership abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient with engineering and project tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, MS Project, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for client and stakeholder management.
