Location: This role is based in Islamabad Pakistan. 

About the role:

As Executive Legal, you will be a key member of the Governance, Legal & Compliance (GLC) function at Telenor Pakistan. You will be responsible for providing legal support on corporate law, contract management and corporate/regulatory compliance. 

Your impactful goals will include:

  • Providing legal support and advice to internal stakeholders on matters related to corporate governance, commercial transactions, litigation, corporate & regulatory compliance.
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and managing commercial contracts, property leases and related agreements, to protect the company's legal and commercial interests.
  • Ensuring internal compliance with applicable laws, company policies and governance guidelines.
  • Coordinating with external regulators and stakeholders, including the SECP, CCP, PTA to ensure regulatory compliance, effective handling of corporate filings, inspections and reviews, while supporting the Company Secretariat Office in fulfilling statutory obligations under the Companies Act, 2017, SECP rules, regulations, SROs and notifications, including timely submissions and maintenance of corporate records.
  • Ensuring timely processing of key legal and corporate milestones, including contractual obligations and regulatory deliverables.
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and advising internal teams on their implications for contractual and corporate matters.
  • Supporting the Head of Department and Company Secretary on matters of corporate governance, secretarial compliance and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitating informed decision-making by reviewing corporate documents, legal authorizations and delegated authorities in alignment with regulatory standards and internal policies.

Your typical day at work:

  • Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and finalizing general and telecom specific contracts, agreements, GFA, LSC, SLAs, MOUs, LOIs, etc and ensure that they are in compliance with the Company policies, statutory and legal requirements;
  • Provisioning of legal assistance and support for the company's business activities involving regulatory/government bodies like PTA, CCP, USFCo., MoITT, SBP, and local administration;
  • Provisioning of legal support and strategic advice to internal stakeholders on various matter including corporate governance, commercial transactions, litigation and regulatory compliance;
  • Provide legal support for the company's projects, analyzing legal risks and proposing practical solutions to minimize exposure;
  • Fulfilment of statutory obligations under the Companies Act, 2017, SECP rules, regulations, SROs and notifications, including timely submissions and maintenance of corporate records.
  • Reviewing and vetting ownership documents and lease agreements to ensure legal accuracy and protect company interests;
  • Draft and review force majeure letters /reports/complaints/applications/grievances before authorities/business partners including USFCo, and other appropriate forums as and when required;
  • Should be able to assist in corporate matters including SECP and corporate governance matters;
  • Should have capabilities Review and vet companies/vendors related documentation to ensure legal accuracy and protect company interests;
  • Analyze diverse legal scenarios and develop practical solutions to address them effectively;
  • Should have capabilities to minimize company's overall legal exposure and adapting proactive approach in doing so;
  • Should be able to deal with government/regulatory bodies independently and ensure compliance thereof;
  • Should be able to work under pressure and responding to legal queries within specified time;
  • Conducting legal research to resolve specific legal issues and support ongoing legal matters;
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Head GLC / HoD / Company Secretary.

What we're looking for?

Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), from a recognized institution. Master's degree in Law (LLM) and other related diploma & certification will be added advantage.

Work experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate legal affairs, contract management and company secretarial functions.
  • Proven track record in advising on corporate governance matters, managing commercial contracts, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal, competition and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience within the telecommunications sector or other highly regulated industries will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Work experience with SECP eServices portal and regulatory filing requirements is essential.
  • Leadership in team supervision, management and mentorship.

Functional Skills / Knowledge Areas:

  • Strong knowledge of local and international corporate and commercial laws
  • In-depth knowledge of the Companies Act, 2017, SECP rules, regulations, SROs & notifications, corporate governance and related enactments.
  • Expertise in drafting, negotiating and managing contracts.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with creative decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Good business acumen with the ability to align legal advice to commercial objectives.
