About the Role:

As Assistant Manager Legal, you will be a key member of the Governance, Legal & Compliance (GLC) function at Telenor Pakistan. You will be responsible for providing legal support on contract management and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with the Stakeholder' Departments and cross-functional teams to enable informed and compliant business decisions. This position undertakes key role to managing complete life cycle of contracts management commencing from drafting the contracts to vetting, negotiating, ensuring adherence to company's policies, procedures and executing contracts. 

Your impactful goals will include:

  • Providing legal advisory and support on contractual matters across functions including Sourcing, Technology, Finance, Intellectual Property, Litigation and regulatory compliance.
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts to safeguard the company's legal and commercial interests.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and governance standards.
  • Engaging with external regulatory bodies such as CCP and PTA to support regulatory compliance.
  • Managing timely execution of key legal milestones, including contractual deliverables and obligations.
  • Developing and enhancing legal frameworks, templates and processes to improve efficiency and reduce legal risk.
  • Tracking legal and regulatory developments and advising relevant teams on potential impacts on contracts.

Your typical day at work:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize diverse contracts and agreements (telecom-specific, commercial, GFAs, LSCs, SLAs, MOUs, LOIs, etc.), ensuring compliance with company policies, statutory and regulatory requirements,
  • Provide redlined recommendations, and align with stakeholders until agreement is finalized.
  • Provide legal support to business units and strategic projects, enabling compliant and commercially sound decision-making.
  • Advise on regulatory and government engagements (USFCo., PTA, CCP, SBP and local authorities), ensuring timely compliance, submissions and coordination.
  • Develop and update legal policies, contract templates and procedures in line with legislative changes, company policies and best practices.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to identify risks, resolve issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, including Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Code of Conduct, Data Protection, and Information Security.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, resolve contractual disputes, recommend settlements and serve as a key point of contact on contractual/commercial matters.
  • Manage multiple legal queries under tight timelines while maintaining service excellence and proactive risk management.
  • Supporting internal stakeholders on matters relating to commercial transactions, intellectual property, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting internal audits, compliance reviews and contract lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Should have capabilities to minimize company's overall legal exposure and adapting proactive approach in doing so;
  • Should be able to work under pressure and responding to legal queries within specified time;
  • Conducting legal research to resolve specific legal issues and support ongoing legal matters;
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Head GLC / HoD / Manager Corporate Law and Contracts.

What we're looking for?

Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), from a recognized institution. Master's degree in Law (LLM) and other related diploma & certification will be added advantage.

Work experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate legal affairs, contract management functions.
  • Proven track record in advising on managing commercial contracts, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal, competition and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience within the telecommunications sector or other highly regulated industries will be considered a strong advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of local and international corporate and commercial laws
  • Expertise in drafting, negotiating and managing contracts.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
