Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 5+ years of hands-on expertise in managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise databases. The ideal candidate will ensure database performance, availability, and security while supporting business applications and development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server / Oracle / MySQL / PostgreSQL databases.
  • Perform database administration tasks including backups, restores, monitoring, replication, and clustering.
  • Ensure high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies are in place.
  • Proactively monitor database performance, tune queries, and optimize indexing and storage.
  • Implement and manage security policies, roles, and user permissions.
  • Perform capacity planning and manage database growth.
  • Collaborate with developers to support schema design, query tuning, and data integrity.
  • Automate regular DBA tasks using scripts and tools.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and governance policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Expertise in backup, recovery, performance tuning, partitioning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions (Always On, Log Shipping, Mirroring, Replication, RAC, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of security, authentication, and authorization within databases.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, SolarWinds, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (T-SQL, PowerShell, Shell, or Python).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
