Senior PHP / Full-Stack Backend Engineer – AI ERP Systems

Key Responsibilities

System Extraction & Re-Architecture

  • Analyze legacy ERP/finance modules (AP, AR, GL, PO, Payments, Bank Reconciliation) and map their data models.

  • Design and build a clean Finance OS schema (MySQL 8 / PostgreSQL) to replace and unify those modules.

  • Create migration and data-extraction pipelines to move master and transactional data safely from old systems.

  • Refactor VB or legacy PHP code into modern Laravel or equivalent backend services.

Core Backend Engineering

  • Develop REST / GraphQL APIs for all finance entities (vendors, COA, invoices, approvals, payments, audit).

  • Implement workflow and policy engines (state machines, approval hierarchies, rule validations).

  • Build robust evidence & audit logging frameworks for compliance-grade traceability.

  • Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and stored logic for high-volume financial data.

Automation & AI Integration

  • Embed AI/OCR services for invoice reading, anomaly detection, and cash-flow forecasting (Python microservices + API integration).

  • Design explainable-AI outputs (confidence levels, highlights, "why" panels).

  • Automate reconciliation, matching, and exception handling using AI-assisted rules.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to connect machine-learning pipelines to live finance data.

Full-Stack Development & User Experience

  • Implement clean, secure APIs consumed by Laravel Blade or frontends.

  • Build Excel-like grids, approval dashboards, and role-based workspaces with reusable components.

  • Integrate authentication, role-based access, and audit timelines into every view.

Productization & Deployment

  • Containerize and deploy the Finance OS for multi-tenant SaaS clients (Docker / Kubernetes / AWS).

  • Implement configuration modules so each client can define approval policies, bank formats, and thresholds without custom code.

  • Support CI/CD, versioning, and automated testing for continuous delivery.

  • Participate in client demos and provide technical documentation for implementation teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10 + years in PHP backend development (Laravel / Symfony preferred).

  • Deep expertise in MySQL / SQL optimization and database architecture.

  • Proven experience with ERP, POS, or Operating-System-level business applications.

  • Hands-on with workflow engines, approval logic, and audit trails.

  • Familiarity with VB / VB.NET or legacy ERP codebases (ability to read and refactor).

  • Strong grasp of REST API design, microservices, and JSON data contracts.

  • Experience integrating with Python services or external AI APIs.

  • Understanding of financial domain concepts (AP, AR, GL, budgeting, reporting).

  • Version control (Git), DevOps (Docker, CI/CD), and cloud hosting (AWS / Azure / GCP).

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to Open Policy Agent (OPA), Camunda, or Temporal workflows.

  • Experience with React / frontends.
