Job Description

We are seeking an 
AI/NLP Engineer with full-stack development expertise
 to lead the development of a next-generation 
natural language–driven analytics platform
. The system will allow users to generate dashboards, charts, and insights simply by typing queries in plain English (e.g., 
"Show me publications by school in 2025"
). The role is on-site at the National Science & Technology Park at NUST.

This role combines 
AI/NLP model integration
 with 
end-to-end application development
. You will be responsible for building the text-to-SQL/NLP engine, integrating with datasets, and developing interactive dashboards that automate business analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI/NLP Development
  • Design and implement 
    text-to-SQL pipelines
     to convert user prompts into database queries.
  • Fine-tune or integrate LLMs (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, or open-source models) for domain-specific query understanding.

  • Build context-aware prompt engineering and error-handling mechanisms for analytics queries.

  • Data & Business Analytics

  • Collaborate with data teams to prepare structured/unstructured NUST datasets.
  • Automate the generation of charts (pie, bar, line, heatmaps, etc.) from query results.

  • Ensure accuracy, scalability, and security of analytics pipelines.

  • Full-Stack Development

  • Build and maintain the 
    frontend query interface
     for users to interact with the system.
  • Develop APIs connecting AI models, databases, and visualization layers.
  • Integrate visualization libraries (e.g., Plotly, , ) into dashboards.

  • Ensure responsive, user-friendly UX for faculty, administrators, and decision-makers.

  • System Integration & Deployment

  • Deploy models and applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Implement authentication, role-based access, and audit logging.
  • Optimize performance for real-time analytics.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
     Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field.

  • AI/NLP Skills:

  • Strong experience in 
    NLP, LLMs, text-to-SQL, and semantic search
    .
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, RAG pipelines.

  • Knowledge of prompt engineering and fine-tuning domain-specific models.

  • Full-Stack Skills:

  • Proficiency in 
    Python (FastAPI/Flask/Django)
     for backend.
  • Experience with 
    , Vue, or Angular
     for frontend.
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, GraphQL, and microservices.

  • Hands-on with visualization libraries (Plotly, , ).

  • Database & Analytics:

  • Strong in SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).

  • Experience in data pipelines (ETL) and analytics frameworks.

  • Other:

  • Experience deploying ML models using Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud services.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in 
    academic or enterprise BI systems
    .
  • Familiarity with 
    PowerBI/Tableau integration
    .
  • Understanding of 
    data governance and security in educational institutions
    .
