Role Description

Senior WordPress Plugin Developer (Gutenberg Expert)

We are looking for a Senior WordPress Plugin Developer with deep experience in Gutenberg (Block Editor) to help modernize and improve our WordPress plugins. Your main role will be to make our plugins 100% compatible with Gutenberg in terms of design, functionality, and user experience.

You should love solving complex problems, working with challenging code, and not be afraid to take on any technical challenge.

Responsibilities

  • Refactor and improve existing WordPress plugins to be fully compatible with the Gutenberg block editor.

  • Develop custom Gutenberg blocks and block-based interfaces that integrate with our plugins.

  • Connect plugin settings and UI with Gutenberg design controls (colors, typography, spacing, etc.).

  • Ensure our plugins correctly inherit Gutenberg and theme styles, including global styles and patterns.

  • Migrate legacy features (shortcodes, classic editor features) to modern Gutenberg blocks.

  • Troubleshoot and fix complex compatibility issues between our plugins, Gutenberg, themes, and other plugins.

  • Write clean, secure, maintainable code following WordPress and PHP best practices.

  • Document new features and technical implementations clearly.

  • Stay up to date with new Gutenberg features and WordPress development standards and apply them to our products.

Requirements

  • Strong, proven experience in WordPress plugin development (not just themes or site building).

  • Excellent knowledge of PHP, WordPress hooks/filters, custom post types, and plugin architecture.

  • Hands-on experience building or maintaining Gutenberg blocks and block-based features.

  • Good JavaScript/React skills and experience with the WordPress block editor APIs.

  • Solid understanding of Gutenberg concepts: blocks, block variations, patterns, InnerBlocks, global styles, , etc.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges.

  • Comfortable working with existing, complex, or legacy codebases.

  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and deliver reliable, well-tested code.

  • Good written and spoken English.

  • Experience migrating classic editor/shortcodes to Gutenberg blocks.

  • Experience with WooCommerce and other major WordPress plugins.

  • Familiarity with performance optimization and scalability for high-traffic WordPress sites.

  • Experience with modern JS build tools (npm, Webpack, Vite, etc.).

  • Contributions to WordPress core, Gutenberg, or open-source plugins.
