Project Manager – SDLC & Agile (Data)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver data engineering, data modeling, and cloud-based data projects using both traditional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile frameworks. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while remaining adaptable to changing requirements and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

· Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource plans for data-centric projects.

· Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and schedules aligned with SDLC phases or Agile sprints, incorporating:

o Data pipeline development

o Data warehousing

o Data governance

· Manage dependencies, risks, and issues related to data quality, integration, and security, ensuring timely resolution and escalation.

· Facilitate Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

· Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables aligned with business objectives.

Stakeholder Management

· Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring consistent communication on project progress and outcomes.

· Gather and document data requirements with input from business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists.

· Present project status reports, metrics, and insights to leadership, emphasizing business value and data-driven outcomes.

Process & Quality Management

· Enforce SDLC processes for data projects, including:

o Requirements gathering

o Data modeling

o Pipeline development

o Testing, deployment, and post-implementation review

· Apply Agile best practices to improve delivery velocity, transparency, and collaboration.

· Champion continuous improvement and adoption of project management best practices across data engineering and analytics.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field (Master's preferred).

· 5+ years of project management experience in data engineering, analytics, or software development environments.

· Proven experience delivering data projects using both Waterfall/SDLC and Agile methodologies.

· Strong track record of delivering complex data projects on time and within budget.

Skills & Competencies

· Deep understanding of data engineering, data modeling, and data warehousing.

· Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

· Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Proficiency with project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, Trello)

· Expertise in risk management and change management.

Certifications (Preferred)

· PMP (Project Management Professional)

· CSM / PMI-ACP (Certified ScrumMaster or Agile Certified Practitioner)
