JOb Purpose

The Research Associate will support the implementation of the Youth Resilience Program by coordinating with partner institutes, contributing to program design and delivery, and facilitating awareness and capacity-building activities. The role involves conducting toolkit and Psychological First Aid training and support group sessions with students and faculty, ensuring smooth logistical arrangements, and liaising with internal IRD teams (HR, Finance, IT, Admin) as well as external academic partners. The position is central to strengthening youth mental health awareness, resilience, and mobilization efforts aligned with academic calendars. Along with helping with other ongoing mental health programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To support the Youth Resilience Program by facilitating training and support group sessions, and coordinating with the mental health mobilization team to strengthen youth engagement, assisting with data entry for KAP surveys, performing quality checks of data entries, translating study tools.
  • To support and lead qualitative and quantitative research processes by conducting thematic and statistical analyses, ensuring accurate interpretation of findings that contribute to program learning and evidence generation.
  • To develop and maintain research systems and tools, including databases and participant trackers, that enable efficient data management and monitoring of program activities.
  • To actively participate in program implementation by contributing to youth mobilization strategies that strengthen student engagement in mental health initiatives.
  • The research associate will conduct post-assessments of support groups by managing quantitative measures and in-depth interviews (IDIs), including supporting transcription and translation of IDIs to ensure accuracy and quality of qualitative data.
  • To collaborate with research and program teams by providing operational and analytical support in meetings and discussions, and to produce research outputs—such as literature reviews, presentations, and reports—that effectively communicate evidence to internal teams and external partners.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the line manager as per need.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA)

Required Qualification

  • Preferably a Master`s degree in Psychology.
  • Candidates with a Master`s degree in closely related fields such as Public Health, Social Sciences, Epidemiology or International Development may also be considered.

Required Experience

  • At least two years of demonstrated research experience, including a background in leading, coordinating, and implementing research activities, preferably in low- and middle-income country context.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to lead research activities and mentor junior staff.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and manuscript writing.
  • Self-motivated, a fast learner who is ready to hit the ground running.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, and problem solver with an elevated level of curiosity and who is an independent thinker
  • Good listener and maintains accountability for their actions.
  • Ability to work independently and under tight timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive in completing tasks and identifying gaps and needs.
  • Fluency in English and Urdu, both verbal and written.
  • Hands-on experience with R, SAS, SPSS and Stata (minimum one required).
