Job Summary:

A Medical Scribe works alongside healthcare providers to accurately document patient encounters in real time, ensuring high-quality and detailed medical records. This role allows physicians and other medical professionals to focus more on direct patient care while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately transcribe the provider's verbal notes into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) during patient visits.
  • Record patient history, physical exam findings, procedures, and treatment plans as dictated by the provider.
  • Update and maintain patient charts, test results, and medical histories.
  • Ensure all documentation is clear, complete, and compliant with medical and legal requirements.
  • Assist in retrieving diagnostic test results, medical records, or other necessary information for providers.
  • Monitor EHR entries for accuracy and completeness before final provider sign-off.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • MBBS degree in a related field (preferred) or relevant experience in healthcare documentation.
  • Strong typing skills (minimum 60 WPM) with high accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality.

Work Environment:

  • Typically works in hospitals, clinics, or physician offices.
  • May require extended periods of standing or moving between exam rooms.
  • Often scheduled during clinic hours, with occasional evenings or weekends based on provider needs.
