Job Description

Title: Mental Health Officer-Female

Reporting to: Field Coordinator

Unit: Program

Qualification: Master in Psychology or Social Sciences

Minimum Experience: 3 to 4 Years

Key Summary of Position

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Psychologist will work in close coordination with targeted project areas, to train members of Afghan refugee and host community on non-specialized mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services. Other duties include.

Roles and Responsibilities

• To assess patient's needs, abilities or behavior using, interviews, direct observation, tests, and variety of tools/methods
• To offer therapy for difficulties relating to anxiety, depression, addictions, social and interpersonal problems and increasingly, a range of challenging problems
• To contribute to rehabilitating of patients in the community with the demonstration of psychological approaches in their lives
• To refer patients to specialists or to other institutions/organizations for non-counselling treatment of problems
• Provide referrals when necessary for additional care, evaluation, or treatment
• To record and monitor patients progress through regular meetings or sessions
• Offer services to all age, gender, religion groups of people
• Compile and ensure timely submission of daily/monthly reports and records
• Analyze data such as interview notes, test results, and reference manuals in order to identify symptoms, and to diagnose the nature of clients' problems.
• Counsel individuals, groups, or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans.
• Identify and document success stories, best practices and lessons learned.
• Carry out awareness raising sessions and outreach activities in the targeted community.
• Diagnosis or evaluates mental and emotional disorders of individuals and formulating and creating personalized interventions, treatments and management plans and treatment methods such as psychotherapy, behavior modification and stress reduction therapy for patients.
• Provides crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment.
• Assessing a community needs, abilities or behavior using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of behavior.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside CBP officers, education officer, legal officer, doctor etc.
• Providing consultation on mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and addiction, social and interpersonal problems and challenging behavior.
• Provide Case Management and psychosocial support to individuals, families, and communities.
• Provide outreach services, and home visits, where required and feasible.
• Lead on the identification and mapping of community services in the area and ensure an up to date.
• Offer services to all age, gender, religion groups of people
• Identify, establish, and strengthen referral pathways for clients to ensure they are linked to needed services.
• Provide awareness sessions on services available and facilitate referrals.
• Adhere to all Inspire Pakistan and UNHCR protocols and procedures surrounding case documentation, confidentiality, and security.
• Training of staff, OV's and POC's on mental health.
• Identification and referral of protection cases to UNHCR for ECA.
• Liaise with general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to support clients in need of MHPSS through the referral, diagnosis, and treatment process.
• Represent Inspire Pakistan at all key stakeholder meetings.
• Conduct other MHPSS-related activities as requested.
• Compile and ensure timely submission of daily/monthly reports and records
• Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.
